Alice Tong, MD

About

Dr. Tong, a native Austinite, grew up in northwest Austin before attending the University of Texas at Austin, where she obtained a biochemistry degree with honors. She continued her medical education at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas before completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. While in residency, she served as Chief Wellness Officer and assisted New Orleans’ Audubon Zoo when an orangutan in labor needed assistance. She has delivered both human and primate infants!

Outside of her clinical duties, Dr. Tong has completed academic research projects in a variety of fields, including a research fellowship with the Centers for Disease Control and Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology. Her research areas of focus included adenomyosis, breast cancer screening, enhanced recovery after surgery protocols, and SARS-CoVID-19 screening in pregnancy.

Dr. Tong is excited to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to the community she grew up in. She strongly believes that women deserve individualized care through every stage of their lives, whether it be adolescence, pregnancy, or menopause. Her office is a safe place for patients to share their experiences, symptoms, concerns, or any other information in confidence. Dr. Tong strives to help her patients feel comfortable and empowered in their healthcare decisions.

During her free time, Dr. Tong enjoys spending time with her family and friends outdoors, cuddling her pets, doing yoga, and sampling local restaurants.
